The first Days of Jerusalem in Prague – a unique festival of theatre, dance, music, film, creative arts and cuisine

From 13 to 22 June, the capital city of the Czech Republic will host the first ever Days of Jerusalem in Prague. The festival, exceptional in its broad range and diversity of themes and genres, follows up on last year’s successful Days of Prague in Jerusalem and presents the first representative and compact showcase of Israeli culture and Jerusalem beyond the borders of the country. Czech audiences will have a chance to get to know the Israeli metropolis, a city of three global religions, as a place where young people live and have fun, an inspiring environment that is home to world-class artists and ensembles. The festival’s subtitle, Young Artists from an Ancient City, implies the age structure of its participants, who despite their youth have garnered international acclaim in the world of theatre, dance, music, film and cuisine. The unique experience from the plentiful program will be underscored by the attractive venues where the Days of Jerusalem in Prague will be held this June.

The Jerusalem Days in Prague are an opportunity to show Jerusalem as an international cultural city and a center for creativity in the field of the arts to the Czech public. The ties between Israel and the Czech Republic are very important to us and this festival will even strengthen them. The City of Jerusalem and the City of Prague have undertaken to intensify and deepen the cooperation in the fields of culture with the conviction that this cooperation will contribute fostering the knowledge and  mutual appreciation of each other  history and culture. Our target is to present the best of Jerusalem young creators in the field of dance, theatre, music, film and culinary arts. In one word, we would like to give the Czech audience a taste of Jerusalem and an open invitation for dialogue. says Yossi Sharabi, director of the Culture, Social and Leisure Activity Section of Jerusalem City Hall, which is one of the initiators of the Days of Jerusalem in Prague.

The dance and theatre part of the Days of Jerusalem in Prague program will take place in the baroque Nostic Palace in Malá Strana and will feature a number of extraordinary performances, including one world sneak premiere.
